Colts Will Roll Ravens In Rematch

Walker DanielsJan 12, 2010

The Colts-Favored-To-Win-Super-Bowl" title="Super Bowl odds">Super Bowl odds are clearing up a little bit as we advance through the NFL playoffs. One round is done and so are four teams from last week – only one of which was a division winner.

That means we are left with seven of the eight division winners from the regular season. This week, the Baltimore Ravens, the lone Wild Card team remaining, will head to Indianapolis to try and knock off their second division winner in as many weeks. Considering how they played on the road this year, that’s not so likely.

Baltimore Ravens @ Indianapolis Colts

Last Week

The Indianapolis Colts had the week because they earned the top seed in the AFC and with it, a bye. They sat at home and rested their players for a third straight week as they really shutoff the taps in Week 16, when they decided to rest their starters and give up the opportunity to go perfect in the regular season.

Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens were hard at work last week and earned a road win in New England. The Ravens entered the game as an underdog but quickly turned Gillette Stadium upside with a touchdown on their first play from scrimmage. Before the Patriots knew what hit them, they were in a huge 24-7 hole.

The Ravens coasted to a rather easy win but some concerns grew from a potential injury to quarterback Joe Flacco, which could nag him this week as well. Flacco is dealing with hip and leg injuries, and that could be a concern if he’s asked to take on a bigger role this week.

This Week

NFL betting fans know that the Ravens are going to be in tough this week. They are facing a team that they have already lost to this year but more importantly, they lost the first meeting at home and this one is on the road. Furthermore, the Colts are rested and ready for this contest while the Ravens could be a little road weary playing their third straight week away from home.

The Colts game plan is simple: shut down the run. If they can do that, they’ll have a great chance to win this game. They’ll score their points at home while the Ravens will struggle with spotty help from the ground game.

NFL Picks: Colts -6.5
