Hello Georges St. Pierre, "Destiny" is Calling
While perusing through FIGHTERSNEWS.COM, I learned that the Calgary Sun had released the report that Georges "Rush" St. Pierre does intend to move up to the 186 Middleweight division in the UFC (posted by Chad Edward June 25, 2008).
According to the article and other reports I have read, this has been the long term plan of Georges' camp all along.
Greg Jackson has been largely responsible in helping Georges with his game plan for his fights since his earth shattering loss to Matt Serra on April 7, 2008.
The long term plan for his future was to first "clean out the WW division" and then, as long as none of his training partners were in his path, go up to 185 to test his mettle there. If all goes as planned, he may eventually fight his way up to the Light Heavyweight division after hopefully laying waste to the Middleweight division.
Being a very talented and young fighter, his plan may come to fruition after an anticipated win over Jon Fitch at UFC 87.
Nothing is written in stone, and as MMA fans everywhere know, anything can happen in this sky rocketing sport.
This is not an unexpected turn of events for me. Fans have been praying for an opportunity to see a fight between Georges and current Middleweight Champ Anderson "the Spider" Silva.
Recent events have seen so many changes of fighters going up and down in the weight classes that it is hard to say who else besides Anderson Silva that Georges, who is currently 16-2, may face.
Those of us who love this exciting and unpredictable roller coaster ride known as Mixed Martial Arts will have to hang on tight and try to enjoy the ride.
As always Georges, I am on your side and hope that destiny treats you kindly.
Bonne Chance mon ami!
