Is The Cowboys Bandwagon About To Crash?

James BrownJan 12, 2010

Last week the Dallas Cowboys made quick work of the Philadelphia Eagles and advanced to the next round of the divisional playoffs. On Saturday night the defense was clicking as they shut down the Eagles offense. Tony Romo and the Cowboys offense seemed to be clicking on all cylinders and overall as a team they looked unstoppable. So it’s no surprise that shortly after they won the game the Dallas fans started screaming superbowl. What was surprising is that they were not alone.

The Cowboys bandwagon filled up fast. Experts on all of the sports shows claimed that they are the best team in the playoffs and that they are on a path to the Superbowl with little resistance. After all the Vikings are playing horrible and they already beat the Saints in New Orleans. So that is it people! Throw on your ten gallon hat and scream "How Bout Dem Cowboys!" The time is come for them to return to glory and win another ring!  Or is it?

The Cowboys looked great against Philly but they match up very well against Philly and owned them all year. Let's not forget that this game was at home in front of the 60 yard, punt blocking, jumbotron and now they have to go out on the road.

The Vikings are perfect at home and boast a much better running game than the Eagles. Adrian Peterson is a much more devastating threat than anyone in the backfield for the Eagles. Brett Favre is a pretty decent quarterback and has some experience winning big games in the post season.

The Cowboys have some pretty decent flaws that people are willing to overlook. Tony Romo won his first playoff game last week and has been known to blow up in the post season and one game does not make me a believer. The Boys are 5-3 on the road but besides that win in New Orleans they have some mediocre wins against Tampa Bay, Kansas City, and Washington. They are 3rd in the league in committing penalties only behind Green bay and Philadelphia, two teams that got early exits from the post season. The Cowboys are a very good team but I am not ready to give them the ring yet.
