Is Dana White Successful Because He Is FAT?
I have this smirky little grin on my face as I am writing. I can just hear Dana's laugh in the background of my mind. He's reading this title and is thinking, "What's this idiot got to say".
Well Dana, it's all good.
I begin to assess why the UFC is so successful so I tried to come up with an acronym. I came up with F.A.T.. This is only because Dana has been bringing his weight up lately, along with other media.
The "F" stands for fast. Dana is far more superior at figuring out a plan and acting on it than other promotions. He doesn't wait, he moves forward. I have noticed that most successful people have this built in ability to weed out the bad things and move forward with precise accuracy. He has been able to take an idea and move forward at an incredible pace.
The "A" stands for aggressive. Like it or not this is part of his success. If he didn't bite back, so to speak, and show a passion for what he believes I doubt he would have gotten this deal off the ground. Through trial and error he has figured out how to be aggressive without losing points with the general public. He kinda makes you feel sorry for him like you are actually picking on him.
The final letter is "T". The "T" stands for timing. Remember the book everyone wanted in the movie Back to the Future. You could look to see who wins a game and bet on the winner because you knew who was going to win.
When I see Dana's projects in action it's like everything he touches turns to gold. Is this timing or has he been in the future already? Does he have a book in his back pocket?
When you put the three ingredients together you get a guy that makes decisions fast and if you don't like it he pursue it anyway with raw aggression. Top it with his remarkable timing and he wins another round.
When I think of his progress over years I really wonder where we would be as fans today if Dana White never existed. His dream, passion and vision in my opinion is the force behind the entire MMA industry as we see it today.
I see only one way to reward him for his efforts and that's for the fans like us to buy the pay-per-view. It's the ultimate thank you that really gauges his success.
Dana, go have an ice cream. Reward yourself. You're not fat yet and you don't have to make weight.
