Redskins coaching staff rumors & reports

This post, which will be updated as necessary, is devoted to giving you the latest rumors & reports about the Redskins coaching staff and front office moves. Now that the Redskins have a head coach, the assistant coaching positions will be filled out in the coming days and weeks. The Redskins also hinted at moves in the front office to beef up the team's personnel department. We'll have those for you, as well.

"What I'd like to do is sit down with every coach that would like to stay here and get to know them," Shanahan said during his introductory news conference. "Know their philosophies, their beliefs. I was an assistant coach for a lot of years. You understand how much time and effort goes into the assistant coaching position, profession."

Mike Shanahan is holding interviews with all the assistant coaches today. Very few, if any, of those coaches are expected to be retained. [LINK ]

Kyle Shanahan , offensive coordinator of the Houston Texans and the son of the new Redskins head coach is all but certain to join Washington in that capacity. [LINK ]

Bob Slowick , who served as defensive coordinator in Shanny last year in Denver [when the defense was terrible] is expected to be hired, probably as secondary coach. [LINK ]

Current Redskins secondary coach Jerry Gray is optimistic he will be retained and promoted to defensive coordinator. [LINK ] I don't like that. If it was me, I'd clean house entirely. Not one coach would remain.
