Get Over It! Gradkowski Isn't Our Guy!

Christopher NeroJan 7, 2010

Enough with the silliness!  Has the Raider Nation fallen so far low, that we will accept a backup QB for our starter in 2010?  I refuse to hinge my hopes of a playoff birth by someone who lost his job to...Chris Simms!  Our own eyes have forsaken us because the fact is, he did play better than Jamarcus Russell.  However, this does not make Bruce Gradkowski our new QB.  Take pleasure in that he is a very good backup, and probably one of the better backups in the league.  Al Davis should be more than willing to resign him, and should.  With an offensive line that gives up the leagues second most sacks, it is important to have a decent backup.

On that note, say goodbye to Jamarcus Russell.  In no way, shape, or form should a third string QB get paid more than the second string.  Which now brings us to who shall be a starting QB?  There are two avenues to take.  The Raiders can go to a high profile candidate that has a resume, and someone who can sale some tickets.

Kittle Wants Grass Fields ‼️

No, not Brett Favre, but how about Michael Vick? He not only is an athlete, but he is a leader and commands effort.  His jersey will soon be one of the best selling jersey's in the league...again!  The Raiders average just over 35,000 fans this year.  Bring in Vick and expect that number to grow to probably 45,000 with the team having the same results as this year.

The other option is to go with someone who has been flying under the radar.  It's actually someone who hasn't started a game this year... Matt Leinart!  He had a couple of rough patches. And like many first year QB's he struggled.  Early inaccuracies and season long injuries have really stalled his development.  Also, Kurt Warner has just been playing amazingly.  Matt has learned how to be a champion from Warner and wants the opportunity to play.  The Raiders are a perfect situation for him.  Gradkowski would be there to challenge him.. There is little pressure to carry the team.  Anything better than Jamarcus is a plus, right?  He has a very strong work ethic, and the guy flat out has talent.  Matt Leinart wants to make his comeback complete.

If the Raiders could somehow make either of these two options work, and add a safe and quality O-lineman, we could be looking at the playoffs next year.  The only missing pieces the Raiders have are a few key people who are winners, and are used to being on winning teams.  Attitude changes everything!  Go Silver and Black!
