Oklahoma City Boos Chris Paul in Return
January 7, 2010
Once again the people of Oklahoma City disgust me with how they act as fans.
If you have yet to read that, make sure you do.
What’s up OKC? Why are you booing a man who brought basketball to your city? If Chris Paul wasn’t drafted by the Hornets, maybe say a Channing Frye or a Charlie Villanueva for instance was, how would your love for basketball be going right now?
The Hornets would have been a lot worse than they are, you would have been so disenchanted by the NBA you would probably would not have wanted a team to come to your town or if you did, there would been far less than the 4,000 who actually do show up right now.
Chris Paul is one of those once-in-a-generation players, and he cares for OKC and how you supported him through the first two years in the league. He enjoys going back there, going as far as running his basketball camps there.
The first number you should ever retire should be his.
And you boo him? You harass him throughout the game and he gets rattled.
To chastise the man who brought professional basketball to your town is absolutely disgusting. You should be ashamed of yourself for doing so. Chris Paul has done nothing to warrant being booed by anyone.
I’m a Maryland graduate and I watched Chris Paul destroy my Terps on the court four times and then some. I saw pure genius in what the man did on the hardwood when he was 18 years old at Wake.
You could tell he was something special and he kept making my Terps look bad. I didn’t hate him, I appreciated what he did.
You could obviously tell that he was upset on how you treated him during the game. Boo David West, boo Devin Brown, but don’t boo Chris Paul. He doesn’t deserve it.
The more and more this goes on, the more and more you guys prove you really are not an NBA town. Not to mention that your owners inflate the butts in the seats totals by 5,000 to make yourself look better and the fact that you had to lie, cheat, and steal your way to get a team.
Pathetic.
