Bret Hart's Theme Music
Monday night, January 4th. The first time I watched an entire episode of Raw in nearly 8 years.
I had goosebumps; one of my favorite wrestlers, Bret "Hitman" Hart, was returning.
I was giddy during the announcer's intro. Then, the squealing guitar that signals his entrance theme begins; I freaking mark out. Suddenly, the year was 1997, and I was a nearly eight-year-old kid watching my latest obsession, the WWF.
...Then, instead of hearing the legendary theme that has come to define Bret Hart since 1994, it degenerates into some sloppy, wretched, assrock remix that totally kills the euphoric spirit I had. Put bluntly, it sucked.
That's right, you guessed it: I hate the fact that WWE remixed/revamped Bret Hart's music. I think it's hideous.

How Ted Turner Impacted Pro Wrestling 👏
Maybe I'll sound like an old-timer here, but allow me to explain myself.
Bret's theme is one of the most iconic in WWE history. It's easily right up there with Steve Austin's or Shawn Michaels's; the loud guitar screech, the percussive intro accompanied by a building guitar that eventually blossoms into the infamous riff that accompanies Bret's entrance on to the stage and into the wring.
It's as much a part of his Hitman character as Steve Austin's glass shattering and the raunchy, dangerous theme that follows, or Shawn's drum beat (accompanied by squeals) into his catchy, cocksure, self-sung theme.
Why, WWE, why? Why change an iconic and nearly perfect them ? And moreover--why change it for the WORSE?
Believe it or not, I'm not one of these sticks-in-the mud that are rigidly to any sort of change. If you were to give it some sort of edgy update--modernizing it but keeping the integrity of the original--I'd be okay with it. You did this with Undertaker's theme, and it sounded great.
But you turned Hart's theme--which always had great CLARITY and a perfect balance to it--into a distorted, messy song in the vein of the most wretched assrock clouding the radiowaves (as well as many other WWE Superstars' themes) today.
Please, WWE, for the love of all that is holy, please revert Bret's theme to its pristine, legendary status. It was so perfect, and such a part of his character, that to kill it is to kill part of the Hitman.
