Jets Fans Bid Giants Stadium A Final Farewell

Malcolm DiazJan 4, 2010

One couldn’t ask for a better end to the Giants Stadium era Sunday night. The legendary home of the two New York football teams saw its last game Sunday, when the Jets hosted the Cincinnati Bengals with their playoff hopes at stake. The Jets did not disappoint as it ended it’s roller coaster season with an absolute stomping of the Bengals with a 37-0 victory.

As good as the game was for us Jets fans, the highlight of the evening for me was watching the team re-emerge from the locker room to celebrate with the fans.

After decades of insane highs and disastrous lows, the show of emotion and outright appreciation from both fans and players was just beautiful to see. For a moment in time the fans and players were truly one with each other as they clapped hands and shouted in glee.

It was a great moment to witness and a perfect way for the season and the history of Giants Stadium to close. Of course, like many fans I am still holding on to hope that we will see one last playoff game in the stadium. That would be a send off for the ages!
