Court To Decide Mike Leach's Fate for Alamo Bowl: Adam James Should Be Ashamed

The recent allegations by Adam James that Coach Mike Leach “abused” him are absolutely ridiculous and are a perfect example of what is wrong with society today.  Kids are growing up these days in a world where if they don’t get their way, they run home crying to mommy and daddy. 

Coaches have methods that are not always politically correct, but players that buy into the coaches methods understand that every crazy thing the coach does if for a reason.  It’s the players that contribute nothing to the team that always seem to have issues with the methods.

It is a common rule for coaches around America that players don’t sit during practice.  James’ complaint that he was forced to stand is unwarranted and obviously a pitiful outcry by someone who is unhappy with their lack of playing time.   

James’ father, ESPN analyst Craig James, is now using his position with the network to bring more light to his son’s situation.  It’s pathetic and childish.  The James family should be embarrassed. 

Craig James, a former running back for SMU and the New England Patriots, has been around big time football long enough to know that Leach’s actions, while strange, are not outrageous and are no way harmful to the players. 

Anyone that has ever played football at an age of above 12 knows that coaches are harsh and football is a game for tough kids.  By the time a kid gets to the collegiate level, he should be understanding of odd methodologies and realize that it is indeed part of the game. 

Leach has filed for an injunction and will have a hearing at 8:30 on Wednesday morning to ask the court to allow him to coach in the Alamo Bowl and receive the $800,000.00 bonus due to him. 

My hope is that the judge makes an example of Texas Tech and Adam James and allows Coach Leach to resume his role as head coach for the Red Raiders’ bowl game. I also hope that players and former players step up and back their coach.

Kids like James are pathetic and should stick to sports that don’t require mental and testicular fortitude.  Leave football to the men.
