Draft Links: Snead to decide soon, Derrick Locke to return to KT
Ole Miss QB Jevan Snead will make his decision post-Bowl game on whether the will enter the NFL Draft or return to Ole Miss for his senior year. (Star Telegram). Snead was highly regarded by many analysts as a Top 10 pick, but has since plummeted after an average year at Ole Miss.
"At some point after Saturday’s game, Snead (6-foot-3, 220 pounds) will huddle with friends and family members to decide if he wants to apply for early entry in the 2010 NFL draft. He remains unsure what type of feedback it would take from NFL officials to convince him to leave school after an up-and-down season marked by a 54.3 completion rate and a 20-17 ratio of touchdown passes to interceptions.
“That’s one of those things I have to establish after this game’s over,” said Snead, who has a career mark of 17-8 as the Rebels’ starting quarterback, including a 47-34 victory over Texas Tech in last year’s Cotton Bowl.
"
Snead looks excellent at times but other times looked unimpressive and ineffective. He threw for 20 TDs this season, but also threw 17 interceptions. His worst game came against #1 Alabama where he completed just 32% of his passes, thre for just 140 yards, and his threw 4 picks. Against fellow SEC rival Auburn, Snead completed 45% of his passes and threw 2 interceptions.
If I was Snead, I would likely return for the senior year. Snead, once thought to be in the top 2 or 3 of QBs in the 2010 crop, probably falls below Jimmy Clausen, Colt McCoy, Tim Tebow, Ryan Mallett, and possibly Tony Pike and Case Keenum.
