Big Buffalo Mistake Could Be Coming

Now don't get me wrong....i think that Charlie Weiss could be a good head coach in the NFL.  Expectations and reality did not come close to meshing in South Bend and boosters refuse to wake up and look past 1984.  The comment i am making is more to the fact that once again the Bills are looking to hire a head coach without having a true general manager in place that can work with the personnel that was hired without him.

Russ Brandon has no business running a professional football organization and i have no idea why he is still involved.  Sure he can get the promotions going and get the teams revenues up where they have been sagging but there are only so many players you can bring in to sell tickets before the fans notice the slight of hand trick. 

LOOK GUYS HERE IS TERRELL OWENS.....fans ooooh and aaaaah and buy season tickets.

The problem for the last 8 to 10 years has been that the front office and the coaching staff are not on the same page.  The last general manager that hired his own coach was when Ted Donahoe hired Gregg Williams and Mike Mularkey. Granted they didn't work out but at least there was continuity of thought.  Since then it has been a mismatch of personnel decisions that had no cohesion.  When Dick Jauron was hired he wanted to install a defense that required several players that we didn't have and that lead to reaching in the draft for players that weren't necessarily the best but who they thought might fit in the system.

Hiring Charlie Weiss might show that Ralph Wilson is serious about making the Bills successful but without a general manager to deal with all the non coaching decisions it will be the same ole stuff over and over.  Mr Wilson is a smart man and i know that i don't have to define the position of general manager but does he realize that the head coach works for him and not the other way around?
