Nobody Wants To See Pacquiao vs. Malignaggi
Recently Manny Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank has made the bold statement that if Mayweather does not agree to the terms of the fight then they will push forward instead with a Paul Malignaggi fight for the March 13th, 2010 date on HBO PPV.
Pay Per View? This is kind of like the car salesman telling you for the last month that he will sell you a brand new 2010 Mercedes S550 for $49.95 but at the last minute says now I will give you a bus pass instead for the same price of $49.95.
Look lets keep it real—no one wants to see a Pacquiao vs Malignaggi fight besides maybe Team Malignaggi and his immediate family.
No disrespect to Malignaggi, he is a good boxer and he showed he can use great ring generalship skills as he did against a chubby smaller, slower one dimensional Juan Diaz.
But for a man who has 5 KO's on his record, yes only 5 KO's, he simply has no power or means to seriously hurt or put away any of the top fighters in the sport.
Can Malignaggi upset and outbox Pacquiao? Well its not out of the realm of possibilities, but even if Malignaggi did happen to some how out-box and survive 12 rounds of the Pac Man there would be no chance in hell the judges would give him the decision for obvious political reasons.
So what would be the point of this fight then? It almost makes me think twice about putting the additional 600 miles on my Lexus to make the road trip to Vegas.
The only fight the world wants to see right now is Mayweather vs Pacquiao. This fight Pacquiao vs Malignaggi would be the number one most disappointing fight that could happen in 2010........ no wait the second most disappointing fight right after Mayweather vs Mathew Hatton.
