Can USC Save Pac-10 Pride? This Bowl Season They May Have to
So far the Pac 10 is 0-2 against conferences that are usually deemed inferior and they weren't just beaten, they were pimp slapped, emasculated and made to look like weak sisters of a proud conference.
Can USC save the day for the Pac Ten? Can they beat someone other than a Big Ten pretender?
Boston College should be a good first victim for the Pac Ten, even Las Vegas has them a touchdown underdog to USC.
The game is in California and the crowd will be decidedly for USC. The Trojans match-up well on offense against the Eagle defense and though the Trojan defense is down this year, Boston College isn't setting the world on fire.
If USC loses this game, you can flush Pac Ten Pride down the toilet this season. Not even the usual beating of a Big Ten Team, Ohio State this year, can salvage much pride because Ohio State lays down faster and more than a French soldier on the battlefield.
It's not like Oregon's win will actually shock anyone except a few Big Ten fans who still believe they play quality football there.
So the ball is in USC's court. UCLA was lucky to make a bowl and will be trampled by Temple, a MAC school, Stanford will get beat by Oklahoma and Arizona is the only other team that has a strong chance.
A USC loss could spell a 1-6 showing at the worst and a 3-3 showing at the best. This is far behind the Mountain West and a worse percentage than maybe even the MAC.
The usual big conference powers seem to be down while the upstart conferences are up. Yet some fans think the BCS debate going on that leaves out conferences like the Mountain West is much ado about nothing.
The fact is, a loss by Southern Cal could put the Pac Ten in the same boat as the Big Ten as far as failing to prove their bowl worthiness over the "little" conferences.
With conference pride as well as USC pride on the line, USC has a lot to hold up this bowl season.
