It's Floyd's Turn To Adjust, Not Demand

el moDec 25, 2009

I want to see the fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao. I'm tired of the drama and the hatred that's being spread around the web. It got me thinking how did the drama start?

1. Mayweather Sr accused Pacquiao of illegal substances. Can you imagine that? Everything started with Mayweather Sr.

2. Mayweather wants a fair fight so he demanded Pacquiao to have blood tests. Pacquiao agreed. Great news here, now we can sign..............

3. Wait, change of plans. It won't be a simple blood test anymore. It will be Olympic style blood test, Pacquiao will have to undergo random blood testing. Of course, Mayweather will undergo the same thing. Wow, yes! Fairness!

4. USADA will be doing the test and is employed by Mayweather. Woah, woah, woah, employed by Mayweather? Seriously, who wants to give blood to an agency that's employed by your opponent? An agency that both camps could agree on is the right way, don't you think?

5. Random blood testing will occur anywhere, anytime...... even the day within the fight. Pac was like , "What?!" The day within the fight?! Bob Arum felt his fighter is being harassed and declared the fight is over. Bob Arum said his fighter is scared of needles. Bob just made Pac looked bad. What Pacquaio actually said is that he believes it will weaken him. Superstition? Okay, we gotta respect eveybody's culture and beliefs!!

6. Bob tries to save the fight and offers three blood test and unlimited urine test. One of the blood test will be done immediately after the fight. Ok then, sounds good.

7. Mayweather camp said no. Doctors and USADA said blood and urine are better and you can't dictate the time, blah blah blah. Ok we get the point.

8. According to Dan Rafael of ESPN, Pacquiao camp has now agreed to take as many blood tests and urine tests they want with just "one" exception, not within the day before the fight because of Manny's superstition. Bob also mentioned an agency that tested major league sports.

9. Mayweather....... No.

Mayweather camp  wants total fairness and that's understandable. However, I don't see the the difference between taking the test the day within the fight and immediately after the fight. If you have high HGH in your body, it will still be detected after the fight. Like USADA said hormones is in the blood but they failed to mention that you just can't take it out, it takes a lot of days to get it out of your circulatory system. Skin is only a minor part of the excretory system so even if you sweat for 12 rounds, HGH will still be in your blood if you have it. Now if you have steroids, it will still be detected after the fight. The major organ for excretion is the kidney and no steroid content will be able to escape the kidney, every fluid goes through our liver and kidneys. So testing urine after the fight should be enough for detection of steroids.

Will taking blood within the day of the fight really weaken Pacquiao? In a Kevin Lole column in Yahoo! Sports, Victor Conte, the founder and president of the Bay-Area Laboratory Cooperative (BALCO), said that while Pacquiao might be affected mentally by having his blood drawn, the draws would have no impact upon his performance in the fight. “That amount would be less than one-half of one percent [of the total blood in the body],” Conte said. “It’s not going to have any effect, the drawing of blood. Could it have some mental effect? It possibly could and that’s what Asafa Powell did complain about in Beijing. And now we have this complaint from the Pacquiao side. That’s the only down side of that. It’s certainly not going to have any physical effect, giving blood before a fight.”

Conte just said drawing blood would have no impact upon Pac's performance but it may affect Pac mentally. That's stupid since we all know all sports is 80% mental, of course it would affect Pac's performance. How can you win if you're mentally damage?

How should this drama end? Floyd should take out USADA. Bob and Floyd should find another agency that will work for both camps. Finally Pac and Floyd should fight in March 13, 2010 without any physical and psychological advantage over another, that's what all fans want, right? A fair fight is what we want. I want Pac to win but if Mayweather wins, I'll take it as long as it happens.

Stop making demands and make the adjustment Floyd, remember you're not the champ.
