Alabama and Nick Saban's Recruiting Not Over Despite 27 Of 28 Commits
Does Nick Saban having 27 commitments so far for the 2010 signing class, and the fact that the new SEC rule that says you can only sign 28 each year mean that recruiting for next year's class is a done deal?
Not even close if you know Nick Saban, who seems to pull more rabbits out of his recruiting hat that a Las Vegas magician.
If there's a secret someone that Saban is holding out for, there's been no leak of it to the press.
The last few hours are sometimes the most pressure packed and even last year, no one could say with 100% certainty that Trent Richardson was going to be in Crimson until the final moments of signing day.
This year's class won't be a number one class for Saban, but it's not because he's not getting what he wants, it's just that giving a scholarship to a punter and kicker killed the overall average of the class.
Not that the Tide won't need both of these with kicker Lee Tiffin and P.J. the punter leaving from graduation. So for Saban, locking down his needs were more important than scoring the highest number.
But as for Saban having his commitment class full does not a break from recruiting, quite the contrary. Saban and company are busy at work getting commitments and offering to students for the 2011 class.
Just this past week, receiver coach Kurt Cignetti offered what may be one of the best running backs in the country, Aaron Greene from Madison, Texas, (just outside of San Antonio).
And then there are names on the board for 2012 already to entice. Saban does not let the grass grow under his shoes when it comes to recruiting.
So while some coaches may take a week or two off following the bowl season, Saban will be wearing out his Goodyears and his Nunn Bush loafers seeking to keep the Tide's cupboards full for seasons to come with the nation's top talent.
The 2010 Commitment List looks like this and thanks to BamaOnLine.com for the list.
