Week 16: 2009 NFL Team Power Rankings | Fantasy Football Team Rankings
The Colts still have a chance to remain undefeated, and despite resting their starters in the past, I believe that Indianapolis will try to win out. This team has not let the media affect how they play, and they act like it doesn't matter. However, I'm sure it's a different story behind closed doors.
Still, if the Jets come in early and pop this team in the mouth with physical play, the Colts may decide to sit some key players. The last thing the Colts want to get into is a hard hitting slug-fest. They can't afford to lose anyone for the postseason.
Listed below are the Power Rankings for the top 10 teams in the league through Week 15. These teams have been playing well and their players should continue to help fantasy teams.
Furthermore, pay attention to the worst teams on the list, as they are the teams you want to have your players playing against in the fantasy football playoffs.
1. Colts (14-0)
The Colts won against the Jaguars, and with the Saints losing to the Cowboys, they are the only team with an undefeated record. Many fantasy football owners are wondering if the Colts will play their key players this week. I believe they will.
Look for Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne, and Dallas Clark to all play this weekend against the Jets. While all three will play, it is going to be interesting to see how effective they will be against the Jets solid pass defense.
2. Saints (13-1)
The Saints still need to win another game to clinch home field in the NFC. Look for the Saints to come out strong against the Buccaneers this weekend.
Get your fantasy players in for this game as the Saints should be able to get back on track against a struggling Tampa Bay team.
3. Chargers (11-3)
It's time to give the Chargers all the respect in the world, as they have now beaten the Cowboys and Bengals in back-to-back weeks. The Chargers are on a very long winning streak and should end up with the No. 2 seed in the AFC and a first round bye.
4. Vikings (11-3)
The Vikings had a chance to keep pace for home field in the NFC with a win last week, but the team laid an egg against the Panthers.
I still hold out hope that this team will bounce back next week against the Bears, but I'm concerned about Brett Favre playing in the cold weather.
5. Eagles (10-4)
The Eagles have another big game this week against the hungry Broncos at home. I like the Broncos in this matchup because they have a good secondary and should limit the Eagles' big plays down the field.
If the Eagles can win this game, I will be very impressed, as they will have to find ways to win other than their deep passing game.
6. Bengals (9-5)
This past week has been a very trying time for the Bengals players and the organization as a whole. With the passing of Chris Henry last week, it was hard to know what type of effort this team was really going to be able to make.
In the end, the Bengals lost to the Chargers in San Diego on the last second of the game. Look for the Bengals to have a big win this week against the Chiefs in Cincinnati, as they should lock up the division with the win.
7. Packers (9-5)
Green Bay lost a great game to the Steelers on the final play of the game, as Ben Roethlisberger shredded the Packers for over 500 yards through the air. Fortunately for the Packers, they play the Seahawks at home this weekend.
With a win, the Packers should wrap up a playoff spot. The Packers should be a dangerous team come the playoffs.
8. Cowboys (9-5)
The Cowboys earned some respect with a big win against the Saints in New Orleans. Tony Romo played another solid game as he has yet to throw an interception in December. Look for the Cowboys to continue to play hungry against the Redskins next week.
9. Patriots (9-5)
This team hasn't looked pretty the past two weeks, but they have found a way to win games. Look for the Patriots to beat the Jaguars this weekend at home and clinch the AFC East in the process.
10. Cardinals (9-5)
The Cardinals should wrap up their first 10 win season (regular season) in a long time with a victory over the Rams this weekend. However, I will be interested to see just how effective they will be and how much they will win by this week.
In the past two weeks, the Cards have been embarrassed by the 49ers and almost lost to the Lions. This team needs to turn things around if they hope to make a long playoff run again this season.
And the rest...
11. Broncos (8-6)
12. Giants (8-6)
13. Ravens (8-6)
14. Titans (7-7)
15. Steelers (7-7)
16. Dolphins (7-7)
17. Jets (7-7)
18. Jaguars (7-7)
19. Texans (7-7)
20. 49ers (6-8)
21. Falcons (6-8)
22. Panthers (6-8)
23. Seahawks (6-8)
24. Raiders (5-9)
25. Bills (5-9)
