MAACO Las Vegas Bowl and The Winner Is......

This sets up as potentially one of the better bowl games in the early going of bowl season. The Cougars of BYU take on the Beavers of Oregon St and there should be no shortage of scoring as both offenses showcase some great talent. In fact when rated by ESPN this game was rated higher than the Orange Bowl as far as entertainment is concerned.

 Oregon St comes in fresh off a loss to Pac-10 rival Oregon and that game cost them a shot at a top spot and a top bowl so you may think they are disappointed to play in a game like this but they are well coached and I don’t look for that to be a distraction and they better be ready to play against Max Hall and BYU.

 BYU is a solid football team and the travel really well. Fresh off a ten win season and a close win over state rival Utah, BYU is glad to be here. The offense of Max Hall and the cougars has been unreal this season however the defense has been a bit suspect. The Beavers on the other hand have a ton of weapons on offense and the defense has shown promise improving down the stretch.

 Sean Canfield has been a pleasant surprise at QB for the Beavers and he has emerged as a signal caller than can get the ball to the Rodgers brothers and they make magic happen. James and Jacquizz will eat up this cougar secondary and score early and often and put Hall in a tough spot. The Cougars are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 non-conference games and 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games on grass. The beavers 23-8 ATS in their last 31 games overall, 49-19 ATS in their last 68 games following an ATS win, and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 bowl games. Take the Beavers to blow out the Cougars on bowl day and get another bowl victory!
