Carlito and Primo: WWE Needs To Pair Them Up Again

The Doctor Chris MuellerDec 20, 2009

Recently it has been said that both Carlito and Primo are unhappy with their status in WWE.  Both men have been basically jobbing in the past few months and they have fallen flat from their push earlier in the year.

Carlito was once touted as the next Roddy Piper.  He had a great talk show segment with Carlito's Cabana, he had great charisma, and he was one of WWE's bright young stars.

His US title win over John Cena seemed to signify WWE wanted to push Carlito.

Since those days, a lot has changed.  Carlito has moved from one failed storyline to the other and has been shuffled back and forth from Smackdown to Raw.  His younger brother Primo came to WWE and they were paired up in a tag team, all seemed well.

The two won the Tag titles very quickly, in their first match to be exact, and were thrown into a feud with Legacy over the two separate Tag Team Championships.

Once the brothers won the Unified Tag Team Titles, they seemed to be on a roll.  The WWE had them face and beat just about every tag team they had.

Eventually Edge and Chris Jericho made a move and won the titles from the Colons.  Carlito blamed Primo for the loss, and after they lost the rematch, Carlito attacked his brother, severing the partnership.

The two proceeded to have a short feud on Raw, which in retrospect should have been given more time.  The WWE has always loved the Brother vs. Brother angle and they missed out on making this a very heated battle.

Since their feud fizzled out, it has been one loss after another for the Puerto Rican brothers.

Carlito has seen very little screen time recently due to WWE having nothing for him.  He did end up appearing on the Tribute to the Troops special, so that may be a sign of a turnaround, but I doubt it.

What the WWE needs to do is put the team back together.  They had great fan reactions as a team and were pretty funny to watch do interviews too.

Why the WWE split them up in the first place is beyond me, for some reason they think tag teams only need to be together for a year or less these days before having them break up and feud.

Miz and Morrison are a great example of a team that was amazing and was broken up too early.  WWE needs to learn that without long-standing tag teams, they won't have a tag division much longer.

Having the Colons back in the tag title hunt would be good for the WWE, as right now they don't really have a great team to take on DX since Jerishow is no more.

I'm not saying Carlito and Primo are on the same level as DX, I'm just saying they would be a good Raw contender since Legacy vs. DX is not likely to happen again.
