Sooner Fans; Don't Get Comfy In El Paso!

A 7-5 season was not quite the outcome that Sooner fans were hoping for this fall. With a Heisman Trophy winning quarterback, a First-team All-American tight end, and arguably one of the best defensive units in the nation all coming back this season, many Sooner fans were planning on booking flights to Pasadena, CA this winter and not El Paso, TX. Although Oklahoma will not be competing for a BCS Championship this year, they very well may be competing for a lot in the near future. 

I don't know if you have been paying any attention lately, but Bobby Stoops and Company have been doing one heck of a job in the living rooms of high schoolers across the nation this past fall. All of the time spent on focusing on the future of the Sooner football program may have paid off big time as the Sooners undoubtedly have the nation's #1 recruiting class going into signing day.

Of the 27 Oklahoma commitments, 14 have been selected to play in post season All-American Bowls. Think about that number for just a second. Over half of the incoming recruiting class will be legitimate All-Americans in high school. Most programs around the country cannot lay claim to even 1, Oklahoma has 14!

Eddrick Lofton (DB), Kenny Stills (WR), Brennan Clay (RB), Tyrus Thompson (OL), Adam Shead (OL), Bronson Irwin (OL), Austin Woods (OL), Aaron Franklin (OLB), Justin McCay (LB), Rashod Favors (DB), Torrea Peterson (DL), Joseph Powell (Ath), Daniel Noble (DT), and Tony Jefferson (LB) will all participate in either the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl, Under Armor All-American Bowl, or the US Army All-American Bowl.

So Sooner faithful, do not worry about spending any holidays in El Paso, TX over the next 4-5 years. I see cities such as Phoenix, Pasadena, Miami, and New Orleans in your holiday plans for many New Year's to come.
