Fiesta Bowl Bound Boise State Broncos: Through The BCS Looking Glass
This is the first in a series of three articles introducing, if you will, just whom the Boise State Broncos are where they have come from, where they are now, and just where
they will be at the closer of their 2010 BCS Fiesta Bowl scheduled for January 4th.
The Boise State football program even above its fans, haters, and onlookers know exactly how small the lens is that the BCS holds. The Boise State Broncos have been allowed entry into one of the five most prestigious of all college football Bowls.
To play in a BCS Bowl is an honor not a right. The Broncos are a non-automatic qualifier (non-AQ). What that means is, the BCS did not have to allow the Broncos entry this season.
Last year Boise State finished their season just the way they did this season, undefeated. As a result of the Broncos play last season the BCS committee considered Boise State for the BCS Bowls, but they chose to pass on them thus allowing Ohio State entry.
It was a huge disappointment for a very talented Bronco football team. Yet, the Boise State football program knew that eventually their chance would come again. It did, just one year later and with almost a completely different team!
The BCS, media, ect, have come along way to accept the former junior college football program. All of the afore mentioned realize whether they want to or not that the Boise State Broncos have patiently, steadfastly moved through the collegiate football ranks establishing themselves as a top caliber football program.
Prior to claiming entry to the prestigious division 1-A football elite, Boise State fought itself into by dominating its former programs and earning two national championships along the way.
Since the Broncos arrival they have continued their former ways winning, winning, winning! It seems that Boise State has finally earned the respect of the voting world and the BCS and there is significant hope for even a grander season ending in 2010.
Next season the Broncos play two BCS caliber teams and they play them early. What that means for the Broncos is should they win those games the BCS computers will keep them at the top of the BCS poll and many believe they will be in the top five.
One of the most prestigious members of the football writers association has the Broncos preseason entry at No. 2. If that is correct and the Broncos sit there in second place throughout the season under Alabama, those two will play for the national championship game.
The BCS will be watching how the Broncos handle their upcoming rematch with TCU. Last season the Broncos lost to the same team by one point. This year many people believe that TCU is the finest team in all of college football.
A certain amount of respect goes to teams that play the best. The most go to the teams that defeat the best. The later is Boise States goal, and that’s another story. Go Broncos
