Canada's Men's Olympic Hockey Team

Sheldon BrownDec 16, 2009

I know every person that is Canadian and watches hockey wants our 2010 Olympic Men's Hockey Team to win the gold medal for Canada in Canada. I Think the best way for us to do this is, for our team to have a mix of youth and veterans as well as players that  already have chemistry and know's what it takes to win on any stage. Before I begin i'm gonna list the players that won't be on my team as well as the reason why I chose not to Pick them:

Ryan Getzlaf : Doesn't seem to be in a rhythm.

Kucherov Landing Spots

Vincent Lecavalier: Not having a great season to his standards

Martin St. Louis: Not having a horrible season but Its also time to pass the guard

Dion Phaneuf: I Really like him personally but his play can be too inconsistent at times

Cam Ward: Injured for most of the Season

John Tavares: To young but will get his chance to play one day

Scoring Line 1:

Sidney Crosby- The best Canadian player in the world right now if not the best.

Jarome Iglina- One of the best leaders in the game today can score, check, and show some toughness

Rick Nash- Can score goals with the best of them

Scoring Line 2: aka the Shark line

Joe Thornton- The leading point man in the NHL and a great passer

Dany Heatly- Second in the League in goals

Patrick Marleau- Second Of all Canadian players in goals behind Heatly and Crosby

Scoring Line 3:

Brad Richards: Is having an amazing year and has already played in the Olympics and knows what to expect

Steven Stamkos: This kid has a lot of goal scoring ability and has been playing extremely well since the ending of last season

Eric Stall: This pick may gave me some arguments but i believe he deserves to be there a constant threat in the playoffs and a Stanly cup Champion (plus if he gets hot he can play on the scoring lines

Checking line:

This is gonna be the shut down line:

Mike Richards- a strong two way player that will be able to shut down other lines top players.

Brendan morrow- Another strong two player that can shut down Stars

Shane Doan- A player who will come in and do whatever job given to him and do it well.

My extra Skater will be Jonathan Toews Just because he is a future Team Canada standout and the experience will be good for him.

Defence pairing 1:

Scott Niedermayer- A winner plain and simple.

Dan Boyle- The defensive presence that's making San Jose the number 1 team in the league

Defence Pairing 2:

Chris Pronger- A player that will make sure no player takes a shift off

Jay Bouwmeester- Strong in the defensive end and the offensive end

Defence Pairing 3:

Keith Duncan- A solid two-way  defence man

Shea Weber- Reminds me of Jay Boumeester

My extra Defence man Is Mike Green so we can have him as a power-play specialist

Goalies:

Martin Brodeur: Arguably The greatest Goalie of all time why wouldn't you want him in net

Roberto Luongo: If brodeur gets hurt I wouldn't be worried...much.

Marc-Andre Fleury: Probably playing the best out of the three but It not his time to shine yet

So there is my 2010 Men's Canadian Hockey team feel free to comment, but I would be shocked if I got more then 3 players wrong
