Los Angeles Kings are FIRST!

GoucheDec 16, 2009

Sean O’Donnell picked the perfect time to break what was a long 157 game scoreless drought. This 15 year veteran’s goal on Tuesday night turned out to be the game winner in what was a 3-2 victory against the Edmonton Oilers. Even though it’s only mid December and there is a lot of hockey to be played it was still an important two points for the Kings who now occupy first in the Western Conference. “It had been a while,” O’Donnell said about the goal. “Moving into first in the West is a real shot in the arm. We are starting to really believe in ourselves.” It’s obvious that the Kings didn’t read the pre season predictions on how they were going to struggle. With this victory the Kings who are now 22-11-3 and now have won eight of their past 10 games. Showing that they are still a young team Los Angeles who got their other goals from Dustin Brown and Brad Richardson couldn’t hold a 2-0 lead.  After the game Kings goalie Jonathan Quick got a lot of credit for his solid play with the score tied at two. “They came back on us and thankfully he was able to keep us in it,” Kings Matt Greene said. “They were all over us in the third. It’s huge for this team to get this win. Meanwhile the Oilers who got their goals from Sheldon Souray and Ryan Potulny saw their five game winning streak come to an end. The Kings who beat the Oilers 3-1 last month are now 2-0 against the Oilers this year.
