9 Lives Were Not Enough To Get The Bobcats Through The Texas Two Step

Mike JamesDec 12, 2009

The Bobcats are showing more grit and confidence on the road. After being down by 22 to the Spurs the Cats cut the lead to 1 by the end of the third quarter but the Spurs were too much in the 4th so the Bobcats go down again.

The second step of the Texas two steps was a thriller. The Bobcats led the game most of the second half. The effort was there the confidence was there and the belief was there. So what was missing to keep the Bobcats from coming away with a victory?

In the fourth quarter and overtime the Bobcats refuse to double Dirk or put a bigger defender on him. It really appeared that the Cats would win this game but execution down the stretch was a bit lacking. At the end of regulation the Bobcats did not get a shot off.

The overtime time period turned out to be the same. Even though the Bobcats played good ball when everything was on the line with 1.7 seconds left their was no one cutting towards the basket for a shot at winning. Instead Stephen Jackson was shooting a three that never came close to hitting the rim.

Gerald Wallace had another huge game on the boards and scoring. Stephen Jackson ended up with about 28 points. When these two combine for more than 40 points it should equal a win for the Bobcats. They were as close as you can get a lose.

I know there is no such thing as a moral victory but the Bobcats can build off of this lose. If they come with the same effort and focus every night they will win a lot of games.
