I Didn't Even Attend UT, But I Vividly Remember Vince Young's Title Run

Denton RamseyDec 12, 2009

Call me crazy, but I love watching Vince Young when he’s at his best.

Unfortunately, I got my first true glimpse of that (as far as Young at the NFL level) when he pretty much single-handily took control of the game to lead his Tennessee Titans to a victory over the Houston Texans.

Damn it, Vince; why did you have to ruin Houston’s season? I understand the Texans passed you up back in the day, but they did it with the best intentions.

We all should have seen it coming.

People have called Young stupid and said he can’t handle learning NFL formations and said he would never be able to run an offense at the pro level.

Guess all those guys were wrong, because he’s doing what he used to do at the University of Texas on a weekly basis during the best season of every year (admit it, we all love college football).

Being a Baylor fan and bleeding BU-green (with a strong mixture of Duke-blue during the college basketball season), I got to see Young and the Horns beat the Bears time and time again; and I’ll never forget his title run with Texas.

Young was honestly the best of the bests when he played at the NCAA level; and now he’s proving he can do it in the NFL.

Regardless of the Titan’s poor overall record, the only reason Tennessee has anything to be happy about is solely because of Young and his rise from the depths of the NFL dungeon of doom.

Right now, Young looks like one of the best quarterbacks in all of professional football.

Granted, he may not always win pretty, but he usually gets the job done.

With a combination of gridiron smarts in terms of tucking the ball and running with it (which he seemed to do every freaking time against the Texans when the Titans faced a third-down decision) and crisp passing, Young is taking his sweet game to the next level.

It’s about time the Texas legend reminded the world how great he can really be.

Congratulations, Vince; I really hope you keep up the great work and continue to succeed in the NFL.

And Vince: nothing against Matt Schaub, but would you consider coming to Houston someday?
