Fantasy Football – Week 14 Start Em' And Sit Em'
By Derek of The Sportmeisters
Welcome to the best time of the year, Sports Fans. Here is where I will tell you who I think you should start or who I think you should sit for your fantasy team. This year, I will give you your obvious must starts (guys you start every week no matter who they play), a few players from each position who you should start, a sleeper start em’, and a must sit em’. Also, I will be giving projections for those players. Enough talk, let’s get down to business!
QB Obvious Must Starts
Drew Brees – NO vs. ATL — Projection: 330 Yards, 3 TD, 0 INT
Peyton Manning – IND vs. DEN — Projection: 300 Yards, 3 TD, 1 INT
Tom Brady – NE vs. CAR — Projection: 275 Yards, 2 TD, 1 INT
Philip Rivers – SD vs. DAL — Projection: 290 Yards, 2 TD, 0 INT
Aaron Rodgers – GB vs. CHI — Projection: 290 Yards, 2 TD, 1 INT
Kurt Warner – ARI vs. SF — Projection: 280 Yards, 2 TD, 1 INT
QB Start Em’
Joe Flacco – BAL vs. DET — Detroit has the worst pass defense in the NFL and has allowed 28 passing touchdowns. Start Em’. Projection: 275 Yards, 2 TD, 0 INT
Donovan McNabb – PHI vs. NYG — McNabb threw for 240 yards and three touchdowns in week eight vs. the G-Men and has at least 230 yards and a touchdown in his last three games. Start Em’. Projection: 235 Yards, 2 TD, 1 INT
Alex Smith – SF vs. ARI — Arizona is ranked 30th vs. the pass and Smith has thrown seven touchdowns to just one interception in his last three games. Sleeper Start Em’. Projection: 255 Yards, 2 TD, 1 INT
QB Sit Em’
Kyle Orton – DEN vs. IND — The Colts are ranked 19th vs. the pass, but have allowed just 11 passing touchdowns all year. Sit Em’. Projection: 210 Yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
Matt Cassel – KC vs. BUF — Buffalo may have a terrible run defense, but they sure can stop the pass, as they are ranked fourth in the NFL and have allowed just ten passing touchdowns all year. Sit Em’. Projection: 175 Yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
Eli Manning – NYG vs. PHI — Eli doesn’t usually play well against Philadelphia, throwing for 222 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions in week eight, and the weather in New York is starting to turn into bad news for the Passing game. Must Sit Em’. Projection: 235 Yards, 2 TD, 2 INT
RB Obvious Must Starts
Adrian Peterson – MIN vs. CIN — Projection: 75 Yards Rushing, 1 TD, 4 Receptions, 35 Yards
Maurice Jones-Drew – JAX vs. MIA — Projection: 75 Yards Rushing, 1 TD, 4 Receptions, 40 Yards
Steven Jackson – STL vs. TEN — Projection: 100 Yards Rushing, 1 TD, 4 Receptions, 25 Yards
Chris Johnson – TEN vs. STL — Projection: 120 Yards Rushing, 1 TD, 3 Receptions, 30 Yards
Ray Rice – BAL vs. DET — Projection: 110 Yards Rushing, 1 TD, 5 Receptions, 50 Yards
RB Start Em’
Thomas Jones – NYJ vs. TB — With Kellen Clemens at QB, the Jets will look to run the ball more, especially against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their 31st ranked run defense. Start Em’. Projection: 105 Yards Rushing, 1 TD
Jamaal Charles – KC vs. BUF — Charles has scored a touchdown in three straight games and faces the NFL’s worst run defense this week. Start Em’. Projection: 100 Yards Rushing, 1 TD, 3 Receptions, 20 Yards
Fred Jackson – BUF vs. KC — Even though Marshawn Lynch has returned, Jackson has resumed his role as the starter. This week, he faces the Kansas City Chiefs and their 27th ranked run defense. Sleeper Start Em’. Projection: 75 Yards Rushing, 1 TD, 5 Receptions, 45 Yards
RB Sit Em’
Kevin Smith – DET vs. BAL — Smith is coming off of a good game last week against Cincinnati, where he ran for 75 yards and a touchdown and had 29 yards receiving. He will probably not have the same type of game against the sixth-ranked Baltimore Ravens run defense. Sit Em’. Projection: 40 Yards Rushing, 4 Receptions, 30 Yards
Matt Forte – CHI vs. GB — The Bears have almost completely abandoned the run and Forte ran for just 55 yards in week one against Green Bay, who ranks fourth against the Run and has allowed just four rushing touchdowns all year. Sit Em’. Projection: 40 Yards Rushing, 2 Receptions, 15 Yards
Cedric Benson – CIN vs. MIN — As good as Benson has been this year, it is extremely difficult to start him this week against the Vikings and their second ranked run defense that has allowed just three rushing touchdowns this year. Must Sit Em’. Projection: 50 Yards Rushing
WR Obvious Must Starts
Randy Moss – NE vs. CAR — Projection: 6 Receptions, 80 Yards, 1 TD
Wes Welker – NE vs. CAR – Projection: 10 Receptions, 100 Yards, 1 TD
Larry Fitzgerald – ARI vs. SF — Projection: 6 Receptions, 95 Yards, 1 TD
Anquan Boldin – ARI vs. SF — Projection: 6 Receptions, 80 Yards, 1 TD
Reggie Wayne – IND vs. DEN — Projection: 7 Receptions, 80 Yards, 1 TD
Andre Johnson – HOU vs. SEA — Projection: 8 Receptions, 100 Yards, 1 TD
Roddy White – ATL vs. NO — Projection: 6 Receptions, 65 Yards, 1 TD
Marques Colston – NO vs. ATL — Projection: 6 Receptions, 75 Yards, 1 TD
WR Start Em’
Derrick Mason – BAL vs. DET — Mason is Joe Flacco’s best target and he should show that this week against the worst pass defense in the NFL. Start Em’. Projection: 8 Receptions, 100 Yards, 1 TD
Terrell Owens – BUF vs. KC — With exception to last week’s game against the Jets and Darrelle Revis, TO has returned to form with 14 receptions for 293 yards and two touchdowns in weeks 11 and 12. This week, he faces the Kansas City Chiefs and their 28th ranked pass defense. Start Em’. Projection: 6 Receptions, 90 Yards, 1 TD
Michael Crabtree – SF vs. ARI — Crabtree has 14 receptions for 191 yards and a touchdown in his last three games and faces the Arizona Cardinals and their 30th ranked pass defense this week. Sleeper Start Em’. Projection: 5 Receptions, 65 Yards, 1 TD
WR Sit Em’
Steve Smith – CAR vs. TB — Smith was invisible last week against the Buccaneers. He was targeted just five times and had three catches for 78 yards. This week, he faces a New England Patriots Pass D that has allowed 21 passing touchdowns, despite being ranked 14th in the NFL vs. the pass.
So why sit him you ask? Because, Matt Moore will probably be starting again and the weather in New England isn’t expected to favor the passing game. Sit Em’. Projection: 4 Receptions, 50 Yards
Chris Chambers – KC vs. BUF — As good as Chambers has been, he was invisible last week against Denver, catching just two passes for 11 yards. He will probably produce similar numbers against the Buffalo Bills and their fourth ranked pass defense. Sit Em’. Projection: 3 Receptions, 30 Yards
Antonio Bryant – TB vs. NYJ — Darrelle Revis has stopped some of the best receivers in the NFL this year, what makes you think that a rookie QB and Bryant will have any better luck? Must Sit Em’. Projection: 2 Receptions, 25 Yards
TE Obvious Must Starts
Antonio Gates – SD vs. DAL — Projection: 6 Receptions, 80 Yards, 1 TD
Tony Gonzalez – ATL vs. NO — Projection: 7 Receptions, 75 Yards, 1 TD
Jason Witten – DAL vs. SD — Projection: 7 Receptions, 90 Yards, 1 TD
Vernon Davis – SF vs. ARI — Projection: 6 Receptions, 80 Yards, 1 TD
Dallas Clark – IND vs. DEN — Projection: 6 Receptions, 75 Yards, 1 TD
TE Start Em’
Brent Celek – PHI vs. NYG — Celek has been quiet for the past few weeks, but faces the Giants this week, a team that doesn’t fare too well against the Tight End. He also torched them for four receptions, 61 yards, and a touchdown in week eight. Start Em’. Projection: 4 Receptions, 50 Yards, 1 TD
Dustin Keller – NYJ vs. TB — With Kellen Clemens starting at QB, Keller should see his fair share of balls thrown his way against Tampa Bay and their 11th ranked pass defense that has allowed 24 passing touchdowns. Sleeper Start Em’. Projection: 6 Receptions, 50 Yards, 1 TD
TE Sit Em’
Kellen Winslow – TB vs. NYJ — The Jets have the best pass defense in the NFL and I don’t see rookie QB Josh Freeman faring too well on Sunday. Sit Em’. Projection: 4 Receptions, 35 Yards
Zach Miller – OAK vs. WAS — Washington has the fifth ranked pass defense in the NFL and I just can't seem to believe in Bruce Gradkowski, even after two straight wins over Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. Must Sit Em’. Projection: 3 Receptions, 30 Yards
D/ST Start Em’
Baltimore Ravens vs. DET — Matthew Stafford sits, Daunte Culpepper starts, and Ray Lewis is licking his chops. Start Em’.
New York Jets vs. TB — The Jets pass rush will dominate Josh Freeman and I expect at least three interceptions. Start Em’.
D/ST Sit Em’
Denver Broncos vs. IND — Nobody can stop Peyton Manning, and I do mean NOBODY! Sit Em’.
Dallas Cowboys vs. SD — Philip Rivers hasn’t thrown an interception in his last four games and the Chargers offense is on a roll, scoring 30 or more points in each of those games. Sit Em’.
