NFL Draft Links: Berry, Tate rack up awards, Keenum thinking Draft

Mark ButerbaughDec 11, 2009

Notre Dame WR Golden Tate has won the Biletnikoff Award.  The Award is given to the Nation’s top wide receiver.  Just a few days ago, Tate announced he would join his QB Jimmy Clausen in departing Notre Dame for the NFL Draft.  Tate has not been shy on his criticism of the firing of Charlie Weis. (Sporting News)

Tate had a monster year for the Fighting Irish, catching 93 passes from Clausen for 1,496 yards and 15 TD receptions.  It will be interesting to see what Tate’s entry into the NFL draft does with WR draft rankings.  Previous to his announcement, the top wide outs were Dez Bryant, Brandon LaFell, Arrelious Benn (likely to come out), and Damien Morgan (Likely to come out).  But that was before Tate’s announcement.  Where does he factor in?

Congrats to Tennessee Safety Eric Berry who won the Jim Thorpe Award.   The Jim Thorpe Award goes to the best defensive secondary player in the nation.  Berry beat out Joe Haden and Earl Thomas.  (CNNSI)
