John “Balls to the” Wall Against UCONN

Paul RaymondDec 10, 2009

Last night was a hell of a matchup between the Kentucky Wildcats and UCONN Huskies. The two played the part of NCAA heavyweights and the game came down to the wire, like one would expect. In battles like that there is always one player who shines and steals the show thou and this time it was Kentucky freshman John Wall. Wall scored 25 points, including 12 of Kentucky’s last 15.

"

“He’s phenomenal, one of the best players out there,” Kentucky forward Patrick Patterson said. “If we need a crunch-time basket we give it to John and we know we are going to have the advantage. Pretty much when we need baskets we know who to get the ball to.”

It was Wall’s first game in Madison Square Garden and he took the opportunity to show the kind of player he is. His final line was 10-16 for shooting, with 6 steals and 25 points. It pained me to watch him tear apart UCONN like that, especially after the team followed an embarrassing loss to Duke with a solid outing.

But hey that’s how good of a player Wall is. He’s showing quickly that he’s the kind of player to bring Kentucky back to the top and throw himself at the top of the 2010 NBA Draft, after one year.

Here’s a couple highlights from last nights game.

This next one is actually the one that’s the most impressive. It’s not often a player can make a steal like this then outrun a Huskies guard. Usually UCONN is the one breaking away like this.

If any of you are non-believers about this kid. You know the ones thinking well UCONN isn’t that good lets see him do it against a real team. Well he did. Take a look at these highlights from his game against North Carolina.

It’s going to be a fun year to be a Wildcat fan, enjoy it while it lasts cause I can’t see him not going pro after this season.
