The Cleveland Browns- The Youngsters Can Play (offense pt.1)

Juan RobinsonDec 10, 2009

After watching almost a full season of the Cleveland Browns play i come to the conclusion we have players that show some flashes of potential. Lets go over the young Browns players that can really help the team for years to come. This article leaves out Joe Thomas as he already established himself as a all pro LT and Josh Cribbs as he has established himself as a playmaker on special teams and developing WR.

Brady Quinn is the Qb of the Cleveland Browns. He is the golden boy from Notre Dame who set all the records there. He is the the little boy from Ohio who grew up as a vivid die hard Cleveland Browns fan. With that said, Brady should know how Cleveland feels about its franchise and how bad we want to succed. Earlier this season i had my doubts about Quinn as he was yanked early for Derek Anderson. But Brady has resumed the startin job back and plays more loose and with more fire in his eyes. He makes the long throws he was so often critized about for not making. The least that Mangini and and Dabol had put on Quinn seems much looser. Lately Quinn has had stellar games against the Chargers and Lions. I know its eary, but i would give this kid another chance next season. Dabol needs to be fired he is really holdin him back with his horrible play calling. A qb is not our top priority at this moment.

Jerome Harrison

Jerome Harrison is the little all american back from Washington State. It hurts my soul that its takes a season ending injury to Jamaal Lewis just so he can start and get more touches. It scratches my head that Jamaal was torn down and oblisiouly not a starting rb in the league anymore was still starting. Alot of people forget that in week 4 against the Bengals he torn through them for 152 all purpose yards. Then in week 13 against the chargers he posted a total of 97 yardsand two receiving touchdowns. What Jerome as to this offense is the speed out of the backfield that we have missed all season. He can make plays with the ball in his hands. As the season come to a close in a few weeks i want to see what else he can do before i state a rb is not a problem on the team.

Mohamed Massaquoi/Brian Robiskie

MM the second round pick in this years draft was not expected to start so early. Yet he has been thrusted into the starting and carries the weight of being the number 1 wr on a team with so many problems. Oblislisly he is the best performing rookie out of the draft, but he does carries the most weight and pressure out of the rookies. Cleveland has been plagued with dropped passes from numerous players including the most from Braylon Edwards before he was traded. MM knows that the fans of Cleveland would tear him another one if he drops passes. With that said though MM has shown great flashes of big playmaking ability and i think he can trully turn into a number 1 wr in this league. Brian R has been a mystery all season. He dosent play and dosent suit up. His biggest game this season came against the Chargers as he recorded 4 catches for 69 yards. Thats pretty decent numbers in your first meanigful game. The verdict is still out on BR, but i think if given the talent he will develop into a explosive reciever.

Alex Mack

Alex Mack may have not the pick everybody wanted but he is a solid selection though. He has had games where he shows he is still a learning rookie and has had games where he showed why he was picked first. The pick was not flashy, but safe. Alex is still a rookie and learning. I think he will become a great center to anchor the Brown's oline for years to come. Building a team all starts up front. No matter what QB we have or RB we have they wont produce if we dont have the right oline to block. In the end safe pick that we develop into a decent starter into this league.

Evan Moore?

The WR turned tight end came onto the scene in his NFL Debut to have 6 catches for 80 yards against the Chargers. Evan is from Stanford and was signed to the GreenBay Packers practice squad in 2008. The verdict is still out on Moore, but if he can develop into a solid tightend this will truly elevate the Browns offense and play a significant role in the developmen of Brady Quinn. Every one knows he loves a big play making tightend and seems like Evan can fit the mold. Hopefull he is not jus a one game wonder and can turn into that diamond in the rough for the Browns.

James Davis/Chris Jennings??

James Davis has showed potential, but had the unfortunate act of gettin place on IR from a incident in practiced. Next season woth the absence of Jamaal Lewis I think Davis can develop into something here. Chris has taken touches away from Harrison and for that I dislike him. I dont see the big talk about htis guy. He has to show me why he belongs in the NFL.
