Coach Mark Dantonio kicked Jenrette and Winston shortly after the incident. He then suspended 8 players, the 7 who are facing charges and Ishmyl Johnson, who is not on the list released by the prosecutor Wednesday.
None of the suspended players will travel with the team to the Alamo Bowl where MSU will play Texas Tech.
SpartyMSU Opinion:
I do feel for the kids, but they are responsible for their actions, and judged by the company they keep....
I have to believe that the fraternity Iota Phi Theta bears some responsibility.. they shouldn't get off scott free either...
Lets wait to see the charges, but as I stated before... Not knowing Coach Dantonio, I have to believe that he has tried to teach the players about self-control and give them enough discipline and to understand the difference between right and wrong for being a steward for the Spartan reputation.
Coach Dantonio needs to make a stern stand, and send a clear message to the media, athletes of all sports, future players, current players, staff, students, Alumni, and fan base.
I still have faith in Coach “D” and the program and direction, even though shaken by this event. I am sure he will do the right thing. I believe he is working to put Michigan State football on a long term path for success.
Lets go win in San Antonio..
