Tim Tebow- A Tough Act To Follow In College Football.

Brad ThomasDec 8, 2009

No matter what people say about Florida's Tim Tebow there is little doubt that he will be remembered more for his character than his Heisman or national championships. In a society where cockiness, arrogance, and taunting are sadly admired or passed off as "part of the game," Tebow has shown more.

One of the greatest character traits that has been exhibited by Tebow throughout his four year career occurred last year during Florida's drive to the national championship. The loss at home against Ole Miss in which he took personal responsibility for his failed leadership and his vow to become a better leader was absolutely incredible. Tebow went on to lead the Gators to another national championship after that. In the process, he also showed young people that taking personal responsibility for personal failure is the right thing to do when warranted. He also never blamed his teammates for his failures in the Ole Miss game or most recently the Alabama loss.

Throughout his four year career at Florida, Tebow has been in the national spotlight. During that span, he has continued to do the things that he did before he arrived in Gainsville. His devotion to family and thankfulness to God has definitely been an inspiration for young people in a time when young people need it the most. Just ask his coach, Urban Meyer how much he will be missed. He has done more than just produce wins for the University of Florida.

As a devoted fan of college football and a Father of two young athletes I think it is time to Thank Tim Tebow for the simplicity and purity he brought to the game.  During the last four years we have watched you throw and run for touchdowns while leading your team to the top. We have seen you give thanks to God and your parents for helping you become the person you are. We have also watched you celebrate with your team without taunting the other, cussing or flashing gang signs into the camera for all to see on national television. Although there have been some great young athletes before you who did great things, you sir, will be a tough act to follow.
