The Problem With John Cena Holding The Gold
Let me just admit right now I'm not a John Cena fan, but that's not why I have a problem with him wearing the WWE Title.
Cena holding the title makes perfect sense for the company, he's a big dude and he's popular with the kids (who buy most of the WWE merchandise).
My problem is that because there is no Brock Lesnar type heel anymore, I have no sense that Cena will lose the title ever.

They're pushing Shammus now, but he's too new and too gimmicky for me to actually think he'll defeat Cena.
Past Champions, in my opinion, have worked better because there were always one or two heels that made you think they could take the belt.
Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels were both smaller guys so just about any large heel (Vader, Yokozuna, Undertaker) had a legitimate chance at winning, and sometimes did.
In the attitude area you had The Rock, Stone Cold, Triple H, Kurt Angle, Kane (was an actual threat then) and Undertaker all competing for the belt and were all pretty much equal. You honestly didn't know who was going to win sometimes.
Also you didn't have the diluted talent pool because of the different brands (which I down right loath). So where Taker or Batista could be a logical threat, they are on a different show and won't fight Cena.
Lastly, the WWE has done to Cena what they did with Hogan and have basically made him an unstoppable force that really only loses if the heel cheats.
We constantly see Cena run through multiple opponents without breaking a sweat, and then we are expected to believe that some how he may lose to just one guy at the Pay-Per-view.
I'm not trying to hate on Cena for being the Champ, good for him for rising the way he did and being able to carry the company. I just feel with him holding the gold that there is no suspense in the title picture anymore and we can expect him to hold the gold until he gets hurt or makes another movie.
