Brian Kelly Huddles with Notre Dame: Now or Later?

In the shadow of the Golden Dome, somewhere near the outstretched arms of "Touchdown Jesus," Brian Kelly should have been sitting with the "inside powers" of the storied and needy Notre Dame football program.

Instead, all those involved were supposed to huddle in the midst of the Big Apple, New York City.

Kelly confirmed via Twitter that he was meeting with the Irish. But wait one moment, Tuesday he "twitted" that he would not be meeting with Notre Dame officials as previously stated. It was then confirmed by Twitter that Kelly's account had been hacked.

When will he meet?

Now that his "tweets" can't be confirmed, he could be back on again in New York. Regardless, he has been speaking with Notre Dame officials although contract talk could come sometime this week.

Will white smoke pour from a chimney on campus this week to signify that there is indeed a new coach for the Fighting Irish?

Question is, if it is so, if Kelly abandons Bearcat Nation for the monster that is Notre Dame, what is next for Cincinnati?

Obviously he would probably not coach in the Suger Bowl.

But this one is no gimme.

Websites have analyzed that there are faults with all the major candidates, and there are whispers that Kelly is a pro-choice believer, which would not sit well at a Catholic educational institution.

Will the subject come up?

Is it a deal-breaker?

Is Kelly up for the visibility of the position?

Fact is, he couldn't be worse than what Notre Dame has come up with over the past decade.

He's more tactful than Charlie Weis was, and Kelly does understand the politics and value of great PR and glad-handing alumni and fans.

Is he the right fit?

Question is, who better?

Will an announcement come quickly?

Notre Dame doesn't want this to linger and doesn't want the continued perception of being jilted by its first choice.

Kelly to the Irish?

If so, when?
