Andre Dawson Hall of Famer

Bullpen BrianDec 7, 2009

Picking Hall of Famers isn’t as difficult as the writers make it out to be.

To me it’s a black or white issue, either the guy was one of the best during his era or he wasn’t.

If a player falls in the grey area I probably don’t vote for him.

And if he’s a noted steroids user he’s out of luck, too.

Former Cub great Andre Dawson is a no brainer.

  • Eight times an All Star.
  • Eight times a Gold Glove winner.
  • Won the 1987 MVP Award.
  • Posted a career batting average of .279 as a power hitter.
  • Smashed 438 home runs
  • Knocked in 1,519 RBI.

Hall…of…Famer.

The guys at Cubs Cast are laying the ground work to get the Hawk elected in 2010 as well.

Dawson being elected to the Hall goes without saying, even if the writers make it out to be a bigger deal than it really is.

I don’t have vote, of course, but if I did here’s how I’d see it:

YES

Harold Baines, Bert Blyleven, Andre Dawson, Barry Larkin, Edgar Martinez, Fred McGriff, Jack Morris, Dale Murphy, Lee Smith, Alan Tramell, Robin Ventura, Corey Patterson (JK!)

NO

Roberto Alomar, Kevin Appier, Ellis Burks, Andres Galarraga, Pat Hentgen, Mike Jackson, Eric Karros, Ray Lankford, Don Mattingly, Mark McGwire, Dave Parker, Tim Raines, Shane Reynolds, David Segui, Todd Zeile
