The time has come for FIFA to give out the World Player of The Year Award and  final five nominees for the FIFA World Player of The Year award were announced today and all the players currently play in Spain,in alphabetical order they are,

Kaka (Brazil & Real Madrid)

TOP NEWS

Real Madrid CF v Girona FC - LaLiga EA Sports
Real Betis V Real Madrid - Laliga Ea Sports

Lionel Messi (Argentina & Barcelona)

Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal & Real Madrid)

Xavi (Spain & Barcelona).

Although we know Messi will win the award, not that he really deserves it, I say that because every voter will be blinded by his goals(although they were crucial), he was key, but not as vital as Xavi. Lets look at every ones stats for their clubs.

Kaka: 31 games, 16 goals and 9 assist, he is supposed to be the play-maker of the team, surely he should have produced a better assist count. My opinion, he should not have made it into the top five, he was injured for most of the season. Kaka has started this season slowly with 3 goals and 2 assists in the La Liga. The only reason he should have featured here was his amazing performance during qualifiers for the World Cup and at the FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa, scoring 2 goals with an assist and also winning the MVP. Trophies Confed Cup.

Predicted Position: 5

Iniesta: Suprisingly Iniesta has the poorest scoring record out of all the nominees, he scored 4 goals and had 8 assists, 1 goal in the Champions League and what a goal it was, Iniesta was and still is one of the key players of Guardiola's history making Barcelona that won the treble forming a key partnership with Xavi. But sadly numbers do not and will not show the full stats of Iniesta's performance and therefore voters will be blinded. Trophies La Liga, Copa Del Rey, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, Spanish Super Cup

Predicted Position: 4

C Ronaldo: This guy doesn't need and introduction, he missed the first two months of last season but guess what? He banged in 26 goals and had 8 assists( poor for a winger) for Manchester United  taking Manchester to back to back Champions League finals unable to win it the second time. He is currently the most expensive player in the world at £80m. Ronaldo is good for the numbers as numbers are what he thrives of as his current scoring ratio is 0.91 for Real Madrid, which is astonishing. Ronaldo by the way finished distant second to Messi in the Ballon d'or award last week is expected to be in the top three also. Trophies EPL, Carling Cup, World Club Cup.

Predicted Position: 3

Xavi Hernandez: The best play-maker in the world now, dare to argue and numbers will jump out for you, 8 goals, yeah eight and 27 assists in all competitions, wow. So far Xavi has five assists this season and didn't have a good time at the Confederations Cup with Spain losing to U.S.A. Xavi became the key figure in Spain's Euro 2008 winning team as well as in Guardiola's terble winning team and can be said to be the best natural "ten" running plays now. Forming a key partnership with the aforementioned Iniesta, he supplies balls to the likes of Messi, Henry, the new kid Pedro and Ibrahimovic. He finished third in the Ballon D'or nominations. Trophies, La Liga, Copa Del Rey, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, Spanish Super Cup

Predicted Position: 2

Messi: I don't know where to start with the Barcelona forward, is it from scoring in the Copa Del Rey final, Champions League and assisting the goal in the Summer Olympics, or is it 23 goals in the league and finished the season with 16 assists (plus Europe). He also assisted the goal that won the European Super Cup early this season. He has started this season nicely with 9 goals and 5 assists in 13 games. He didn't enjoy and an easy ride during qualifiers, but that should all be Maradona's fault as he has had some weird team selections. He also contributed to the trampling of Madrid that practically won the season. He was top scorer in the Champions league with 9 goals,  e has netted 30 goals in 34 Primera Division starts during 2009. He has already been crowned Ballon D'or champion. La Liga, Copa Del Rey, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, Spanish Super Cup, Olympics Men's Soccer 2008.

Predicted Position: 1

van der sar is just as surprised as I am.

Honorable Mentions for the award, Eto'o, Henry, Gerrard, Ibrahimovic.
