L'affair Allen Iverson: “Talkin Bout Practice,” Welcome Back Brother

In the eastern conference where not even half of the teams have a winning percentage, the 76ers are currently sitting at the bottom of the barrel respectively one and two spots ahead of the woeful knicks and nets.

Unlike what “naughty Shaq” would say : on paper that’s not a good team.  Looking at their roster though their record should  definitely be better then what it actually is ( 5-15). 

Of course they had to deal with recent injuries but hey that’s part of the game and still Elton Brand I thought, should/would have by now made more of an impact on  the team’s improvement.  But it is what it is.  Samuel Dalembert for one needs to raise up and sustain his productivity level specially rebounding-wise..

From an outsider’s standpoint I feel that a  vast majority of  the 76ers players and by extension NBA players need what  I would call a “career coach”.  Maybe it’s actually part of the team’s head coach duties but their tasks must be so overwhelming.

So maybe you could play that role Iverson. 

Starting with Sunday’s first practice (yes ma man we talkin bout practice), I would be the first player there and the last to leave.  Needless to say I would also work my butt off leading by example while listening to my coach (es)

I would from tomorrow onwards instill a real sense of camaraderie on the practice court, locker room, team bus/plane, etc. I would hangout both individually and collectively with my team mates and coaches specially Iguodala and Jordan.

See the way that you’ve always played the game (all-out, fearlessly and with passion), you need to find a way to instill that in your team mates.

Everybody must know their role and through/after each practice/game be held accountable for their individual performances within the team concept.

There’s no substitute for adequate preparation, execution of a game’s plan and an ever present solid defensive stand yet at the end of the day I  will remind you if I have to that: this is still the city of brotherly love.

It’s still relatively a young NBA season.  Time to stop the 76ers’ bleeding and losses.  Time to get some wins.

It’s a second coming.  Yes the prodigal son has returned home.  I hope it works.

Looking forward to the Denver, Memphis games and the rest of the season.
