Georgia Tech-Clemson: Post-Championship Thoughts

That was simply a great game. Here are some postgame thoughts on said instant classic, column to come.

• Before I say anything else, please let me say this: If I had a Heisman vote, (obviously, I don't) C.J. Spiller would get it, unequivocally. He is the best player in college football. End of story, no more questions. 
• Josh Nesbitt should be the frontrunner for ACC player of the year next year. The one thing I kept waiting for Tech to do was turn the ball over, and they didn't. They almost did, but Nesbitt was the man who recovered Roddy Jones' fumble. He is the engine; the reason Georgia Tech's offense goes.
  
• Man, this game...just wow. This was a great game. Seriously. The playmakers on both sides made plays, Tech just had a couple more of them, but this was what the ACC was desperate for.
  
• I said it at halftime: Kyle Parker was going to have to win this game for Clemson. It rarely fails to be true: Your quarterback is what makes or breaks your team. Parker was 10 of 17 for 91 yards and two interceptions, and when crunch time came, Parker came up short.
  
• There cannot be any more doubts about Paul Johnson or his offense. Two late-half drives, both pivotal, both that resulted in points, both orchestrated by Georgia Tech's head coach.
  
• Someone, on a Web site not too far from here, said that Derrick Morgan would make his presence felt. He did, on his last possible chance.
  
• It will be interesting to see who Tech gets in the Orange Bowl. It's going to be a tough draw either way—probably the uber-offensive Cincinnati or the ultra-defensive TCU. Good game either way.
