Homecooking In Dallas

It doesn't take a lot for me to point out the extremely questionable nature in which Texas beat Nebraska.

A personal foul call and a clock runoff that ended up being reviewed?  I didn't even know you could review a play with the clock at zero.

In most circumstances you couldn't, but when the Big-12 has a national title appearance (and money) on the line, they're happy to make the rules fit their needs.

About an hour before the end of the game there was a poll on ESPN.com asking who people would rather see win--Nebraska or Texas.

Over eighty percent, and every state outside of Texas and Idaho, voted for Nebraska.

The problem with the Texas win goes deeper than the way in which it was achieved.

It goes to the very core of fairness in college football.

Cincinnati, TCU, and Texas are all undefeated now and honestly TCU looks like the best of the three.

At least Cincy came back from a deficit in fashion like a championship team without help from weird penalties and reviews.  The officials didn't hand them the game.

The problem with the Texas win is it perpetuates what the BCS system has been about since it was created.  It helps a big conference get money at the expense of more impressive little fish.

I don't like Texas football.  I think Mack Brown is a complete hack as a human being.  He is smug in his interviews and he thinks his program is God's gift to the earth.  I can't wait to see 'Bama destroy the Longhorns.  Ingram for the big trophy should be a lock.

But I will congratulate Texas fans on making the big game.  They didn't play anyone this season and they don't look like a national championship caliber team, but for the fans, at least you made it.

You beat the system.

And what the rest of the country sacrificed for your benefit was complete chaos: the opportunity for a more deserving and better looking program to have a shot at the title.

I think TCU would have beaten Alabama.  Now I'll never know.

We'll be further from a playoff system as everyone will simply pretend Texas is the second best team in the country.  Texas destroyed the big picture plan or a playoff movement.

It was a cheap way to shatter the euphoria from watching Florida fail, Texas fans.

Be forewarned, the entire country hates you now.  No one thinks you deserve to be where you are.  No one thinks your conference is any good anymore.

You just joined the ranks of Ohio State, Florida, and USC.

Only you're in it now.  I'll be wearing my A hat for the next month.

Roll Tide Roll.
