Case Keenum For Heisman!

Brett CampDec 5, 2009

Case Keenum for Heisman. I want to know why this kid hasn't gotten more recognition for what he has acomplished this year. Case has a completion percentage of 70.5, has 4922 yards passing which is a thousand yards more than next closest QB, which if your wondering, Levi Brown from Troy University. Colt McCoy barely made the top ten with only 3328 before the Big 12 Championship, but McCoy has a better completion percentage of 71.8, which when you reach the 70 percent mark, you are in rare air.

Tim Tebow isn't even in the top 20 in total passing yards and from what I remember, the Heisman Trophy isn't a career award. I think what Tim has acomplished over his career at the University of Florida, has been amazing and he has definitely desereved his Heisman for the year he had in 2007. Mark Ingram has had a good year too, but I wouldn't say it is a Heisman year, (sorry tide fans) the Heisman Trophy is not a MVP award which I think more describes what Mark has done this year.

I know you might be thinking about Toby Gerhart from Stanford or even C.J. Spiller from Clemson, which I think is by far and away the best athlete in college football. Toby has had a great year by Stanford's rushing standards, but his stats don't compare to the last few running backs that have won the Heisman. Toby has rushed for 1736 yards this year and has 26 touchdowns, good, but not Heisman good. C.J. Spiller to me would be the runner up to Case Keenum, but in any other year, Spiller would be a front runner. I love to watch Spiller play because of the excitement he brings to everything he does. If the Heisman Trophy is supposed to be given to the best athelete in college football, than C.J. Spiller would win hands down.

Tim Tebow's 2007 Heisman year, was a magical performance by him. He had over 4000 total yards of offense, between rushing and passing he had 55 touchdowns. Now that is a Heisman performance for the ages. Colt Brennan came in third in voting for the Heisman in 2007 behind Tim Tebow. Keenum and Brennan stats are similar, but Keenum threw for almost 600 more yards and had only six interceptions, compared to Colts 18. Both Kennum and Brennan had 38 touchdowns and a QB rating of around 160.0.

I guess this happens almost every year. I seem to find someone who deserves to at least be in the Heisman discussion and you never even hear about them like Texas Tech's Graham Harrell last couple of years and a few years back Oklahoma's Roy Williams. At least Colt Brennan got invited to New York. I would like to hear about another candidates more deserving than Case Keenum, but unless you have a offensive lineman or someone on defense, I'm not sure you can convince me that Case Keenum shouldn't be the front runner for the Heisman.
