Caterpillar To Sponsor Jeff Burton In 2009

Toby ChristieSenior Analyst IJune 17, 2008

We all knew this day was coming.  With Sprint owning naming rights to NASCAR's premier league the AT&T car was given a grace period of which to find a new sponsor, that grace period ends with the 2008 season.

Wednesday Richard Childress announced Jeff Burton's full time sponsor in 2009, and it is a brand familiar to the Burton family.  Caterpillar will be on the Number 31 With a multi-year deal that was finalized Wednesday.

"To represent a well-known global brand like Caterpillar is an honor," said Richard Childress.

The 2009 season will be Caterpillar's 17th year of sponsorship in NASCAR.

"Joining Richard Childress and his team matches two organizations that share common values, as well as high levels of success. I'm confident this new partnership will excite Caterpillar's customers, dealers and employees," Jim Parker (Caterpillar's North American Commercial Divison Vice President) Said.

Caterpillar of course has been with Bill Davis Racing since 1998, back when Jeff's brother Ward was driving the 22 car.
