15. Pitt Vs. 5. Cincy
Dec. 5 is a huge day for Pitt. Coming off of a tough loss to a West Virginia team, which involved a "Chop Block'' that many fans are fumed at, if Pitt is ranked 9 and ends up 9-3, all fans will be disappointed.
That includes me. I hope these polls keep Cincy as high as possible, though. Because I know for a fact that they are overrated. Yes, their offense is dynamic, especially with Tony Pike. But as you hopefully know, he is not the toughest quarterback out there. And with the D-line that leads the nation in sacks per game, unless Tony Pike comes in a suit of armor, he will get knocked around. And he won't be accurate, if he can even get rid of the ball. And he might not even be in there getting hit, because he needs to take some more hits without running to the locker room.
Our secondary may not fare well with him if he isn't getting hit every play, but I'm confident that our D-line will get pressure on him. And on the other side of the ball for both teams, Pitt has very much proved that their offense is just as good as their defense. They rank 3rd in points per game, yards per game, and pretty much everything. Now Cincy may be 1st in those categories, but without Tony Pike, I can't see that happening.
And all season they're defense has not proved to be good enough if their offense doesn't stay hot. Many of Cincy's high scoring games like the games where they score in the high 40s, say around 45, their opponent has scored around 42. If their defense doesn't step it up this game, then that perfect season isn't so perfect anymore.
