Schalke's Jones Proud Of Man Utd's Interest, But When Did United Come Calling?

Schalke midfielder Jermaine Jones has revealed he is "proud" of reported interest from Manchester United.

The holding player, who narrowly missed out on a place in Germany's squad for Euro 2008, has been linked with a move to the Barclays Premier League champions in the German press.

An extract from the newspaper which I myself read reports Jermaine Jones saying "Manchester United are a class team. The interest makes me proud. But I still have a valid contract with Schalke."

He was included in Germany coach Joachim Low's preliminary squad for the European Championship but was one of three players excluded.

I don't know about you but after reading all of the above, I'm a little baffled!

Why on earth would Manchester United go out for player who's not even good enough to make it to the German National Team?

Especially when you have players like Owen Hargreaves and Micheal Carrick on board and lets not forget Rodrigo Possebon who is waiting in the wings for his opportunity!

Seriously! We are not just talking about the English Champions here! We are taking about the European Champions too!

If they had said Newcastle, Aston Villa or Everton or maybe even Liverpool or Arsenal, I would have thought it would be possible but Jones to United?

One word, Rubbish!
