Raptors Cross Roads To Rebuild Or Not To Rebuild!!
The Toronto Raptors are already at a cross roads. With another slow start (7-13) to another season, one might ask were the correct decisions made for this team to succeed.
I still beleive that the Raps have a strong enough team to make it into the playoff, because lets be honest the east is very weak. What I question is do they have the right person leading them and is the team on board.
I don't believe that Jay Triano is the right person. I mean what has he done? When and how has he shown that he should be a head coach on the big stage??? Yeah I know your all thinking that he used to coach the Canadians mens team. My response to that is SO WHAT! What did he do for them? Absolutely nothing! He never had a strong team he left off tons of takented players or didn't play them because he didn't think they had enough experience. But he also assisted with the USA Dream team, really now, lets be honest, he really didn't have to do much with that team. So again I ask why should he be a head coach in the NBA??
Andrea Bargnani is another dilema, for the life of me I can not understand why he got the such a great contract extention (50 million for 5yrs) from the Raptors. In my opinion he is at best a very good 6th man. He is in his third year and it is amazing that the same discussions about what he needs to work on (defence, rebounding). Bargs is an ok player, however the facade has worn off and its time for him to step into his big boy shoes and man up, but guess what he doesn't have to because he already recieved his contract extension.
Lets break him down he is a good shooter from 3 point range but, what else does he do? Okay i'll give him that he bloks a shot every now and then but really what else does he do for the team?? he isn't strong enough to play centers or power forwards, his feet work is too slow on defence, he doesn't rotate well defensivly, and again he is a rebounding liablity. Offensively he isn't a pick and role player, he is strictly a pick and pop out player and that is easy to guard if you are aware of his comfort and I think everyone is by now. He doesn't go to the offensive boards.
There is a decision to be made and it needs to be made quickly, or else its Bosh will pack his bags and the rebuilding process will start all over again.
