Seminoles betting fans have to wonder where their team’s offense is going to come from this season. FSU has struggled in every facet of the game on the offensive end of the court, as it has turned the ball over a whopping 82 times in its L/4 games and has only shot better than 45% from the field as a team once in those outings. If you throw out games against Jacksonville, Stetson, and Mercer, the Noles are only netting 55.8 points per game. However, their bigs remain a dominant force in the post, as they rank #2 in the land in opposing field goal percentage (33.2%) and fifth in the country in scoring (53.3 points per game allowed).
The four-headed monster of Fs Chris Singleton, Ryan Reid, Solomon Alabi, and Xavier Gibson could mean big trouble for Ohio State’s leading scorer, F Evan Turner. Not only does Turner pace the Bucks with 19.8 points per game, but he also leads the team in assists (6.3 per game) and rebounds (12.5 per game). OSU hasn’t had a ton of challenges yet this year either, though a narrow 77-73 loss to North Carolina and a 76-60 win against California in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at Madison Square Garden were both impressive. Watch for F Dallas Lauderdale to make a difference in the post on the defensive end of the court, as he is averaging 4.0 blocks per game in ‘09-’10.
The Seminoles have been absolute road warriors dating back to last season. They are 14-6-1 ATS in their L/21 games away from Tallahassee, and I’m looking for them to hang tough once again in this spot. The step up in competition will have the Buckeyes off kilter enough for FSU to play its type of game early. It’ll be up to them to see it all the way through since OSU will recover in front of the home crowd. In what looks to be a defensive slugfest, I’m more inclined to take the points. And that’s exactly what I’m going to do!
