Caps Prospects Update (DEC 2)
Time for an update on the Caps prospects. Our last update was in middle of November. For a roster of the Washington Capitals top prospects, check out our Caps Page. Here are the latest stats for the young prospects:
D Karl Alzner: Karl Alzner was a 1st round pick of the 2007 draft. He is a stay at home defensemen and one of the premier prospects in the Caps system. In 19 games with the AHL Hershey Bears, Alzner has 1 goal and 3 assists and an impressive +14. The chief reason Alzner has not seen substantial time in Washington is the salary cap. My concern is, will the salary cap stunt his growth? As for now, Alzner has been recalled to Washington and has looked pretty good. In 3 games, Alzner has an assist and is a -1. Alzner has shown more willingness to get engaged offensively. As the Caps rehabilitate through injuries, Alzner remains in Washington as Tom Pti and Shaone Morrisonn are recovering from injuries.

F Joel Broda : The Capitals selected Broda in the 5th round of the 2008 NHL Draft. Broda is 19 years old and in junior hockey in the WHL for the Calgary Hitmen. Broda is having a heck of year so far.
