Lakers Regain League's Best Record

Regnard RaquedanDec 2, 2009

The Los Angeles Lakers won and found themselves in familiar territory: on top of the NBA.

The Lakers thrashed the short-handed New Orleans Hornets en route to a 110-99 win. The victory catapulted the Lakers to a 14-3 record, good for best in the league. The Hornets, on the other hand, are now wishing Chris Paul would heal overnight so he can return to action and help the languishing franchise.

The Lakers' dissection of the Hornets happened inside the paint as Andrew Bynum scored 21 points with a blistering 90% shooting percentage. In total, the team's frontcourt players shot a hot 63%. This domination is best displayed in Lamar Odom's mean jam over Hilton Armstrong:

If there's one thing that wasn't pretty with the game, it was how the Lakers played in the closing minutes of the final quarter. With the reserves playing, the Lakers saw a 20-plus lead almost become into single digits, no thanks to sloppy play. But nonetheless, the Lakers are playing dominating basketball that would make them probably the first team in the league to notch a ten-game winning streak.
