2008 College Football Championship Series: Week Two
Here's a look at what happened in week one of this preview of the upcoming season: Week One of the BCS Championship Series
Now let's take a look at how week two should play out.
Top 10 after Week One:
1. Georgia 1-0
2. Ohio State 1-0
3. Florida 1-0
4. USC 1-0
5. Oklahoma 1-0
6. Missouri 1-0
7. Clemson 1-0
8. Texas 1-0
9. Auburn 1-0
10. LSU 1-0
Key Games in Week Two:
Miami (FL) at Florida
In a renewal of this in-state rivalry, the resurgent Hurricanes take on the Gators in The Swamp. This should be a fun game to watch simply because of the number of great athletes you get on the field at one time when two big time Florida schools go at it.
This would be Randy Shannon's first signature win of his career if he could pull it off, but expect Urban Meyer and company to take care of business at home. This could even get ugly if the Canes aren't careful.
Winner: Florida
Cincinnati at Oklahoma
In an interesting non-conference match up, the Bearcats from the Big East travel to take on the Sooners.
Give credit to Oklahoma for scheduling this game. They are expected to win, but it won't be easy. And a loss would be a bad loss for certain.
I'd expect Brian Kelly to take his team into Norman and play well, but look for the Sooners to win this game going away in the end.
Winner: Oklahoma
BYU at Washington
In an early season road test, the Cougars travel to Washington to take on the Huskies. If BYU has any ideas of making a run as an at-large team, this is where it starts.
Husky Stadium isn't an easy place to go into and play, and the Cougars will have to be on their game early to come out of there with a win.
Look for Max Hall and the Cougars, though, to go in and get a convincing early-season win on the road and make believers out of the Huskies.
Winner: BYU
Top Heisman Candidates after Week Two:
1. Tim Tebow, QB, Florida
Tebow has a prime time performance against the Hurricanes.
2. Pat White, QB, West Virginia
White will have a big game against East Carolina and continue to carry the Mountaineers.
3. Knowshon Moreno, RB, Georgia
Moreno will have another 100-yard game against visiting Central Michigan.
4. Chris Wells, RB, Ohio State
Chris Wells will have another solid game against the Ohio Bobcats.
5. Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech
The sophomore will have another 100-yard performance against Nevada.
6. Percy Harvin, WR, Florida
Harvin will have a solid game, but the fast Miami defense will limit the damage.
