Fantasy Football Week 13 Rankings: Top 15 Tight Ends

Injuries continue to wreak havoc on the tight end position.  Now it is Brent Celek who is banged up, and though he is expected to play, he has to be knocked down a couple of spots.  Let’s look at where he falls and all the rest for Week 13:

1. Dallas Clark - Indianapolis Colts - vs. Tennessee
2. Antonio Gates - San Diego Chargers - at Cleveland
3. Vernon Davis - San Francisco 49ers - at Seattle
4. Visanthe Shiancoe - Minnesota Vikings - at Arizona
5. Kellen Winslow - Tampa Bay Buccaneers - at Carolina
6. Jason Witten - Dallas Cowboys - at New York Giants
7. Tony Gonzalez - Atlanta Falcons - vs. Philadelphia
8. Brent Celek - Philadelphia Eagles - at Atlanta
9. Greg Olsen - Chicago Bears - vs. St. Louis
10. Heath Miller - Pittsburgh Steelers - vs. Oakland
11. Kevin Boss - New York Giants - vs. Dallas
12. John Carlson - Seattle Seahawks - vs. San Francisco

Thoughts:

• While Brent Celek has been a tremendous story in 2009, playing through torn ligaments in his hand is clearly going to have an impact on his potential value.  Knock him down a few spots, accordingly.
• Thanks to the presence of Brett Favre, Visanthe Shiancoe has been a touchdown machine this season.  He’s second among tight ends with eight (Vernon David has nine) and has a touchdown in each of the past two games.  That certainly helps his potential value in what could be a shootout with the Cardinals.
• Kellen Winslow has emerged as the main passing threat for the Buccaneers.  Even against a tough passing defense, you have to like his chances of having a big week given the opportunities he should get.
• While Kevin Boss failed to score in Week 12, he had four touchdowns in his previous three games.  You have to like how he has developed into a go to receiver for the Giants.
