Just minutes before the deadline to enter the 2008 NBA Draft arrived, California Golden Bears’ forward Ryan Anderson announced that he would forgo his final two seasons of eligibility and enter the draft.

"This decision was incredibly hard for me," Anderson said on the Cal website. "It's been a great process, and I received really positive feedback. Cal has done so many great things for me. It has been a great couple of years. Now, I feel I am ready to take my game to the next level."

This past season, Anderson averaged 21.1 ppg and 9.9 rpg in the 2007-08 season, while earning numerous honors. Including all-Pac 10 first-team, a second-team All-American by The Sporting News, and a third-team All-American by collegehoopsnet.com.

"These are tough decisions that young players are faced with,” first-year head coach Mike Montgomery said. “We wish Ryan well and would like to thank Ryan for his contributions to California basketball."

For his career, Anderson ranks 16th on Cal's all-time scoring list with 1,236 career points.

He also ranks ninth in three-pointers with 122, eighth in rebound average (9.0 rpg), sixth in three-point percentage (39.6 percent), and fifth in scoring average (18.7 ppg).

Cal finished last season 17-16 and 6-12 in conference play.

The Golden Bears were eliminated in the second round of the NIT by Ohio State.
