Home Sweet Home: Allen Iverson Possibly Headed Back to the Sixers
Just when we thought it was over, just when we thought Allen Iverson was going to leave the NBA and retire, we were wrong. Allen Iverson is indeed going home.
Yes, fans the Philadelphia 76ers are interested in their legend again.
According to Stephen A. Smith, Allen Iverson may be headed back to the Philadelphia 76ers possibly by next week. Iverson is set to meet with coach Eddie Jordan on Monday. The following was reported:
"It's being seriously considered," one Sixers official said before his team lost to the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night. "We know the history. We know the ups and downs. But we're also aware of what (Iverson) can do and that he's needed here. We simply can't just ignore the upside he'd bring. Not with our situation."
With the Sixers' scheduled to play San Antonio on Sunday, then Dallas on Monday, sources said it's entirely possible Jordan will fly from Dallas to Atlanta to meet with Iverson on Tuesday. That also happens to be the day Iverson is scheduled to meet with his former coach at Georgetown, John Thompson.
The following was just a report, but let's hope this reunion happens. It could have truth to it, because Iverson and Stephen A. Smith are good friends.
It would be a great situation for Iverson and what better place to end his career than Philly?
Lets hope this works out and Iverson proves to the world that he can still play. Denver was good, but Detroit and Memphis were horrible situations for one of the games greatest players.
There is only one "answer" left. Allen Iverson could be going home. If anyone forgot, his home is the Philadelphia 76ers.
